I moved onto the printing process. I got newspaper to put the plastic on top of so that I wouldn't make as big of a mess, then I used a Palette knife to spread the ink into the groves I make on the plastic. Then I take a piece of card stock paper that I had soaking in water for 8 minutes prior to taking it out, then I put the two together under a roller. The overall point of doing this is to move the ink from the paper onto the paper and that is the outcome print. The first time that I applied the ink onto the plastic, I had to use the newspaper to get off the excess ink so that the ink left over was only in the groves of where I craved into. When I got to the part of the process where you take the wet paper and put your plastic with the ink on it through a roller where it ink is then transferred onto the paper, I got a print where it was very faded. So from there I had to make one where I carve into the plastic deeper. Doing it once again this way around was beneficial in actually showing up on the paper. .I was successful the second time doing the printing process.

Planning
I had created three planning sketches before I started imprinting into the plastic. I wanted to keep the theme so nature as my final theme, so I kept that in mind with I was drawing up my sketches.
I had danced around with the idea (experimented) of using a foot as a base symbol. I had created two planning sketches using the input of a 'foot' or 'footprint'. Etching ProcessBefore I went right into craving into the plastic, I had tapped it down on top of my sketch that I decided to make as my final dry point design. This helped to stabilize the plastic while I cut into it and gave me an out line of what would be on it instead of simply doing it free-hand.
Reflection
This type of medium was not one of my strong points and it was difficult for me to get my finger wrapped around the concept. It took me a while to get a start on what I wanted to do, but from there, my ideas took off. When I got to the etching process, I expected it to me difficult to create curves, and it was, but not a bad as I expected. What was frustrating was not having it be perfectly transferred onto the plastic, but there wasn't much I could do about that. I believe that I did a substantial job and I would enjoy doing this medium again, but I don't think I would do it for fun.

Symbolism Movement
Symbolism was both an artistic and a literary movement that suggested ideas through symbols and emphasized the meaning behind the forms, lines, shapes, and colors. The point of the piece made using the Symbolism Movement is the be very obscure and not specific in what the point is that is trying to get across. Often this used to symbolize other things has no relation to each other. The works of some its proponents exemplify the ending of the tradition of representational art coming from Classical times. Symbolism uses the emphasis on emotions, feelings, ideas, and subjectivity rather than realism. Their works are personal and express their own ideologies, particularly the belief in the artist's power to reveal truth. Symbolist artists aimed more for nuance and suggestion in the personal, half-stated, and obscure references called for by their literary and musical counterparts.
Meaning
I idea if the piece is to be very symbolic, but it is to be interpreted in many ways, though all being true and the over-minding meaning of the piece. The imprint of the foot itself is representative of my impact and influence on others lives. A foot is used for traveling and making pathways. The footprint is caused by pressure, in this case weight is forcing it down. No matter how far I fall, I will always continue forwards in my path and my destination in life. Retreat in one direction, advancement in the other. It also represent the impression of life lessons I leave behind myself. The shapes and figures inside of the footprint and very organic and abstract. There are many underlying spirals with in the clutter. Spirals are expressions of creativity. They are often found in the natural growth pattern of many organisms and suggest the process of growth and evolution. Spirals convey ideas of fertility, birth, death, expansion, and transformation. They are cycles of time, life, and the seasons and are a common shape in religious and mystical symbolism.
